Christ in You, the Hope of Glory
Dear CLIC Family,
The third term of School holidays are almost behind us, and as the warm spring weather begins to settle in, I find myself reflecting on this new season we are in—not just in nature, but in the life of our church. Spring always brings a sense of renewal and growth, and I believe God is doing something very similar in our midst.
We are now halfway through our series in the book of Colossians, and what a journey it has been. Week by week, as we open the Scriptures, we are being reminded of the glory and supremacy of Christ. Apostle Paul doesn’t just give us good advice for living; he lifts our eyes to see Jesus exalted—above every power, every authority, every anxiety, and every need. And here is the astonishing truth: this same Christ, the One who holds all things together, has chosen to live in us.
Paul puts it boldly and beautifully: “Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). Those six words can change the way we see everything.
Christ at the Centre
Colossians keeps pulling us back to this central truth: Jesus is not an accessory to life; He is life itself. Our world tells us our worth is measured by success, performance, appearance, or possessions. But Colossians declares a greater reality: “For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God” (3:3).
When the world says, “Prove yourself,” Christ says, “You are already mine.”
When culture whispers, “You’re not enough,” Christ answers, “I am enough for you.”
When fear grips us, Christ breathes His peace into our hearts.
This is the privilege of being in Christ. We no longer need to live under the shadow of striving or fear—we are anchored in the love and sufficiency of Jesus.
God at Work Among Us
One of the great joys in this series has been seeing the Word of God bear fruit right here at CLIC. We have witnessed people give their lives to Jesus during this Colossians journey. As Jesus is lifted high, He is indeed drawing people to Himself, just as He promised.
What a reminder that the gospel is not just good news for the past or the future—it is good news for today. Christ is transforming lives among us right now. If He can do this in others, He can do it in you too. May we preach the gospel to our own souls daily, so that Christ’s truth shapes our thoughts and actions.
Growing Together
Just as spring blossoms open under the warmth of the sun, may our hearts open more fully to the life of Christ within us. Colossians urges us: “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above” (3:1).
This is both a challenge and a privilege. To live differently. To clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience (3:12). To let the message of Christ dwell richly among us (3:16).
Of course, this is not easy. Life is busy. Work pressures, family demands, personal struggles, doubts, and distractions crowd in. But remember: we are not walking this journey alone. We walk together as a church family, and we walk in the strength of the Spirit who empowers us.
A Pastoral Encouragement and Commissioning
Do not underestimate what God is doing in your life. Even when growth feels slow, even when you feel weak, Christ is at work in you. He has promised to bring His work to completion.
And so, I want to encourage you as your pastor:
Live out the good news of Jesus in your families, workplaces, schools, and neighbourhoods. Let the reality of Christ in you be seen in your words, your love, and your actions. Share the good news with those around you. Many people are searching for hope, peace, and purpose. We have the answer in Jesus Christ—let’s not keep Him to ourselves.
This spring, as the days grow warmer and brighter, may our church shine more brightly with the light of Christ. May we be a people who not only enjoy His presence but also carry His presence into the world.
CLIC, may we continue to fix our eyes on Jesus, the One who is before all things, and in whom all things hold together. He is our life, our message, and our mission.
With love in Christ,
Pastor Kenny Koay
